Decking that gives you a level, usable space wherever your garden slopes

Decking is the quickest way to turn an awkward, sloping or uneven garden into somewhere you can actually put a table and chairs. It sits outside patio doors without major groundworks, it can be raised to catch the view over a hedge or down to the sea, and with composite boards it needs almost no looking after. Branching Out designs and builds decking for homes and holiday properties across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire.

The frame is what matters. We build on concreted posts or proper pads with pressure-treated joists at the right centres, so the deck does not bounce, sag or rot from underneath. On top you can choose grooved or smooth timber boards, or composite in a range of colours, with steps, handrails and balustrades to match. We also strip out and replace old, rotten decking and can clean and re-treat existing timber decks.

Whether it is a small platform for a bistro table in a Prestatyn back garden or a large raised deck with a balustrade for a holiday let in Llandudno, we will build it to last.

How It Works

From first call to finished job

Simple, transparent and with no pressure at any stage.

1

Visit and measure

We look at levels, doors, views and access, and discuss size, height, board choice and whether you want steps or a balustrade.

2

Quote both options

We usually price timber and composite side by side so you can weigh up cost against upkeep.

3

Build

Posts and frame go in first, checked for level and solidity, then the boards are laid with consistent gaps and neat edges, and the steps and rails are fitted.

4

Finish

Timber decks are treated, off-cuts are removed and the garden around the deck is tidied. Then it is yours to enjoy.

Why Branching Out

Why choose Branching Out for decking

A deck is only as good as the frame under it and the person who built it. We build frames to last and lay boards to look right.

Solid frame

Concreted posts, correctly spaced joists and the right fixings, so the deck stays level and quiet underfoot for years.

Honest advice on materials

Timber costs less and looks natural; composite costs more and needs no treating. We will tell you which suits your garden and budget.

Works with the garden

Because we do landscaping, fencing and patios too, the deck is designed to fit the whole garden rather than dropped into it.

Where We Work

Decking across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire

Sloping gardens are everywhere in our part of North Wales: Dyserth, Meliden and the hillside above Prestatyn, the terraces of Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Penmaenmawr, and the valley sides around Llanrwst, Mold and Holywell. Decking is often the most practical and affordable way to get a level outdoor space on these plots, and we build a lot of it.

We also build decking for holiday lets, lodges and caravan parks along the Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy coast, where a low-maintenance composite deck with a balustrade adds real value for guests and owners alike.

Questions & Answers

Decking FAQs

Questions about decking.

Timber is cheaper and looks natural but needs cleaning and treating every year or two to stay in good condition. Composite costs more up front but does not rot, splinter or need treating, and it stays less slippery in the wet. We price both so you can decide.

Usually not, provided the deck is no more than 30 cm above ground level and does not cover more than half the garden. Raised decks and decks near boundaries can need permission, and we will tell you if yours might.

Timber decking can in wet, shady spots if it is not maintained, which is why we recommend an annual clean and, for shady gardens, grooved boards or composite. We can also fit anti-slip strips on steps.

A well-built timber deck on a pressure-treated frame should last fifteen years or more with basic maintenance. Composite boards typically carry manufacturer guarantees of twenty years or longer.
