Patios and paths laid on a proper base, so they stay flat for years

The patio is the part of the garden you will use most: morning coffee, summer evenings, somewhere for the barbecue and for the kids to play when the lawn is soaking. It is worth getting right. Branching Out lays patios, paths and paved areas for homes and businesses across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire, and every one is built the same way: excavated to depth, a compacted hardcore sub-base, slabs bedded on a full mortar bed with the correct falls, and joints pointed or filled with a proper jointing compound.

That matters because paving laid on sand or on spots of mortar sinks, rocks and cracks within a couple of years, especially on the clay soils common around Mold, St Asaph and the Vale of Clwyd. Our patios stay level, drain away from the house and are easy to keep clean.

We work with concrete slabs, Indian sandstone, limestone, porcelain and block paving, and we will happily show you samples and price a couple of options so you can choose what suits the house and the budget.

How It Works

From first call to finished job

Simple, transparent and with no pressure at any stage.

1

Site visit

We look at the levels, the soil, where the water will go and how the patio will connect to the house and garden, then talk through materials.

2

Quote and samples

You receive a fixed written quote, usually with a couple of material options, and we can bring samples so you can see them in your own light.

3

Groundworks and laying

We excavate, lay and compact the sub-base, bed each slab on full mortar with the right falls and point the joints.

4

Finish and clean

The patio is cleaned off, spoil is removed and the surrounding lawn and borders are made good. You can use it as soon as the mortar has cured.

Why Branching Out

Why choose Branching Out for your patio

Anyone can make a patio look good on the day it is finished. We build them to look good in ten years.

Proper sub-base

Every patio sits on excavated, compacted hardcore and a full mortar bed. No shortcuts, no sinking slabs.

Drains the right way

Falls are set so water runs away from the house, with channels or soakaways where the garden needs them. No puddles, no damp walls.

Materials to suit

Concrete, natural stone, porcelain or block paving, priced honestly so you can balance looks, maintenance and cost.

Where We Work

Patios & Paving across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire

We lay patios and paving throughout Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire: in the seaside towns of Prestatyn, Rhyl, Kinmel Bay, Abergele, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno, in Denbigh, Ruthin, St Asaph and Rhuddlan, and across Flintshire from Holywell and Flint to Mold, Buckley and Hawarden.

The wet North Wales climate means drainage matters more here than almost anywhere. Porcelain and sealed natural stone stay cleaner in the damp, and a well-designed patio with proper falls will not turn green and slippery every winter. We also offer power washing to keep existing paving looking its best.

It depends on the size, the material and how much groundwork is involved. Concrete slabs are the most economical, Indian stone sits in the middle and porcelain is at the top. We give a fixed written quote after a free visit, and we can price two or three options.

Not normally for a patio in a back garden. Paving a front garden or driveway of more than five square metres needs to be permeable or drain to a lawn or soakaway to avoid needing permission, and we design for that as standard.

You can walk on it the next day and use it fully once the mortar and jointing have cured, usually two to three days depending on the weather.

Yes. We can cut the patio into the slope with a retaining wall, build it up with a raised edge and steps, or terrace the garden into levels. Sloping gardens in Dyserth, Meliden and along the Conwy coast are common and we have plenty of experience with them.
