Logs
Logs by the one-ton bag, delivered to your door
Tree surgery produces a lot of good timber, and rather than see it go to waste we cut it, split it and deliver it as firewood. Branching Out supplies logs by the one-ton bag to homes across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire, for wood burners, open fires, fire pits and chimineas.
Each bag is a mix of hardwood and softwood. The softwood catches quickly and gets the fire going; the hardwood burns longer and gives a steady heat once it is established. Using the two together is how most people burn anyway, and a mixed bag gives you both without having to order twice.
The logs come from trees we have felled and pruned locally, so they have not travelled far, and buying them supports a local business rather than a pallet delivery from the other end of the country. Call or message to check availability and arrange delivery.

Good firewood, sensibly sized, from people who work with timber every day.
Local timber
Our logs come from trees we have worked on across North Wales, so the wood is local and nothing useful goes to waste.
Hardwood and softwood
Softwood to get the fire going, hardwood to keep it in. A mixed bag covers both.

It is the large woven bulk bag used by builders’ merchants, roughly 85 to 90 cm in each direction. The name refers to the bag rather than the weight of the logs, which is a good deal less than a tonne. Filled with split logs, it is a good supply for a regularly used stove.
Hardwood such as oak, ash and beech is denser, burns for longer and gives a steady heat. Softwood such as pine and spruce is lighter, lights easily and burns faster. A mix lets you light the fire with softwood and keep it going with hardwood.
Stack them off the ground, under a cover that keeps the rain off the top but lets air through the sides. A log store or a lean-to against a sheltered wall is ideal. Keep a small basket indoors by the fire so the next load is dry and at room temperature.
