Safe tree felling and removal, from a single garden tree to a whole plot

Sometimes a tree has to come down. It may be dead or dying, leaning over a house after a storm, lifting a driveway, blocking light from a whole garden, or simply the wrong tree in the wrong place. Branching Out fells and removes trees of every size across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire, safely, cleanly and with everything taken away afterwards.

Where there is room, we fell the tree in one piece. In the tight gardens of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay, or close to buildings and roads, we climb the tree and take it down in sections, lowering each piece on ropes and rigging so nothing lands where it should not. Gareth is City & Guilds NPTC qualified in felling, climbing and aerial rescue, and the team has the pulling equipment, winches and chipper to deal with large trees efficiently.

We also attend emergencies. If a tree has come down on a fence, blocked a lane or is hanging dangerously after a gale, call us and we will make it safe first and tidy up properly afterwards.

How It Works

From first call to finished job

Simple, transparent and with no pressure at any stage.

1

Assess

We look at the tree, its lean, the wind direction, what is around it and how we can get equipment in. We also check whether the tree is protected.

2

Quote

You get a written quote for felling, waste removal and, if you want it, stump grinding. We explain the method so you know what to expect on the day.

3

Fell

With exclusion zones set and the ground team briefed, the tree is felled or dismantled in sections, using rigging to control every piece near property.

4

Clear

Brash is chipped, timber is cut and stacked or loaded, the stump is ground if agreed, and the site is left clean and safe.

Why Branching Out

Why choose Branching Out to fell your tree

Felling looks simple on video. In reality it is the most dangerous job in arboriculture, and the difference between a clean job and a damaged roof is planning, equipment and experience.

Safety first

Every felling is planned with a written risk assessment and method statement, exclusion zones and a trained ground crew, in line with our published health and safety policy.

Right method for the space

Straight felling in open ground, sectional dismantling with rigging where space is tight. We choose the method that protects your property.

Everything removed

We bring the chipper and tipper, so the brash, logs and stump chippings leave with us rather than sitting in your garden for months.

Where We Work

Tree Felling across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire

We fell trees throughout Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire: in the coastal towns of Prestatyn, Rhyl, Kinmel Bay, Abergele, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno, in market towns like Denbigh, Ruthin, Mold and Holywell, and on farms and estates in the Vale of Clwyd, the Clwydian Range and the Conwy valley.

Coastal North Wales takes a battering from westerly gales every winter, and shallow-rooted conifers, poplars and willows in exposed gardens are the usual casualties. If you have a tree you are worried about, it is far cheaper and safer to have it looked at now than to deal with it after it has fallen. Site visits are free.

Questions & Answers

Tree Felling FAQs

Answers to the questions people ask before having a tree felled.

Something else on your mind? Call Gareth on 07796 546252.

Most, yes. The exceptions are trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order and trees in a conservation area, where the council must be notified or give consent first. Felling a protected tree without permission is a criminal offence, so we always check with the local council before we start.

It depends on the size and species of the tree, how close it is to buildings, how easy the access is and whether you want the stump removed. A small garden tree in open ground is a few hundred pounds; a large tree dismantled in sections over a house is more. We give a fixed written quote after a free visit, so you know the price before you decide.

We protect lawns and paving with boards where heavy pieces are being lowered and we plan drop zones carefully. Some marking is inevitable when large timber comes down, but we do everything we can to avoid it and we tidy up afterwards.

Yes. Storm-damaged and fallen trees are some of our most common call-outs. We will make the site safe, cut up and remove the tree and, if it has damaged a fence, we can rebuild that too.
