Hedge Cutting & Maintenance
Neat, healthy hedges of every size, cut properly and cleared away
A well-kept hedge frames a property, gives privacy and shelter from the coastal wind and provides a home for birds and insects. An overgrown one blocks light, swallows garden space, strains neighbourly relations and gets harder and more expensive to deal with every year. Branching Out cuts, reduces and maintains hedges of every kind for homes, farms, businesses and public sites across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire.
Tall conifer and leylandii hedges are a speciality. We can take a 30-foot hedge down to a manageable height, square off the sides, leave a neat level top and remove every last cutting, using platforms, ladders or climbing as the job demands. We also look after beech, hawthorn, privet, laurel, yew, box, escallonia and the mixed native hedges that line lanes and field boundaries across the region.
Whether you want a one-off cut to get things back under control or a regular maintenance visit so you never have to think about it again, we will quote clearly and turn up when we say we will.

Simple, transparent and with no pressure at any stage.
Free visit and quote
We look at the hedge, discuss the height and shape you want and check for nests and any hidden obstacles, then quote in writing.
Book a date
We schedule the work at a time that suits you and the hedge, avoiding nesting season for heavy reductions.
Cut and shape
The team trims the sides, levels the top and, where needed, takes the hedge down in stages so it recovers well.
Clear and sweep
Every cutting is raked up, chipped or removed and the paths, lawn and borders are left as we found them, only tidier.
Why choose Branching Out for your hedges
Anyone can wave a hedge trimmer about. Cutting a big hedge properly, safely and without leaving the garden buried in clippings takes the right kit and the right people.
Tall hedges no problem
Platforms, long-reach cutters and climbing skills mean leylandii and conifers that have got away from you are back under control in a day.
Wildlife checked
We check every hedge for active nests before cutting between March and August and plan big reductions for autumn and winter.
Cleared away
Cuttings are collected, chipped and removed as part of the price. You are left with a tidy hedge, not a tidy hedge and a heap.
Hedge Cutting & Maintenance across Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire
We cut hedges all over Denbighshire, Flintshire, Conwy and Cheshire. Along the coast in Prestatyn, Rhyl, Towyn, Abergele and Colwyn Bay, fast-growing leylandii and escallonia hedges planted for shelter need cutting at least once a year to stay in bounds. In the older gardens of Llandudno, St Asaph and Denbigh we look after beech, yew and privet, and on farms and lanes across the Vale of Clwyd and the Flintshire hills we maintain hawthorn and mixed native hedges by hand and machine.
Our regular maintenance rounds take in business premises, holiday and caravan parks, care homes and rental properties from Holywell and Flint through to Kinmel Bay and Llandudno Junction, so if you need a hedge kept in shape without having to remember to book it, ask about a scheduled visit.

Hedge Cutting & Maintenance FAQs
Common questions about hedge cutting.

Formal evergreen hedges are usually trimmed once in late summer, or twice a year in June and September for a really crisp finish. Heavy reductions are best done in autumn or winter when the hedge is dormant. We avoid cutting between March and August where birds are nesting, and we check before we start.
Height can usually be reduced substantially in one go, but leylandii will not regrow from bare brown wood, so the sides can only be cut back as far as the green growth. We will tell you honestly what is achievable and, if the hedge is too far gone, whether removal and replacement is the better option.
Yes, always. Cuttings are collected, chipped and removed as part of the quoted price, and we sweep up before we leave.
The High Hedges legislation lets councils intervene where an evergreen hedge over two metres tall is affecting a neighbour’s enjoyment of their home. It is much cheaper and friendlier to keep a hedge at a sensible height in the first place, and we can advise on what is reasonable.
